The Reach, by Nate Kenyon
Despite a tight and interesting start, The Reach never seems likely (or able) to raise itself above its Firestarter-lite aspirations. When the climax itself pretty much copies Firestarter down to the last detail, you know you’ve just wasted time and money on something that is little more than fan fiction.
